CUSTOMS DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION
Avala delegation meets Egyptian Customs Authority IT leadership in Doha.
A Qatar-based Avala Complex ITS delegation met with Dr. Ashraf Elgohary, Head of the Information Technology Sector at the Egyptian Customs Authority, to discuss the company's international project capabilities and planned technology investments in Egypt — including a smart data center to serve AI initiatives across Egypt and the Arab world.
Dr. Ashraf Elgohary, Head of the Information Technology Sector at the Egyptian Customs Authority, met with a delegation representing Avala Complex ITS in Qatar. The meeting centered on the company's track record delivering large-scale international projects — with particular emphasis on its work across the African continent — and on technology investments Avala is planning to bring to Egypt in the period ahead.
Among the investments discussed was a planned smart data center designed to support AI initiatives in Egypt and across the Arab world — positioning Egypt as a regional hub for AI-driven infrastructure under the planned rollout.
Cooperation agreed going forward
Both sides agreed to continue joint cooperation on several fronts:
- Additional joint workshops with technology sector specialists to upskill Customs Authority technology staff
- Training on the latest cybersecurity and AI technologies, delivered in partnership with Seoul University in South Korea as academic and research partner
- A joint study of Avala's technology solutions to modernize the IT infrastructure behind Egypt's customs systems
- A shared goal of improving the quality of services delivered to both Egyptian and foreign citizens
"An honor to meet our Arab brothers from Qatar, representing Avala."
The meeting reflects a broader pattern in Avala's regional engagement: pairing its own technology and construction capabilities with academic partners — alongside its established technology partner Expernet in Seoul — to support public-sector digital transformation across its markets.
